What is Alternative Energy?

Renewable energy sources are those that can be replenished naturally and relatively quickly, such as through the power of the sun or wind. Non-renewable energy sources are those that are limited in supply and take much longer to form, such as fossil fuels and nuclear energy.
The use of alternative energy sources has become increasingly important in recent years as concerns about climate change and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions have grown. Alternative energy sources are generally considered to be more sustainable and environmentally friendly than traditional fossil fuels, as they produce fewer emissions and do not contribute to climate change in the same way.
The purpose of using alternative energy is to save and maintain the limitations of fossil fuels.
Alternative Energy Sources

1. Solar Energy
Solar energy is the most important source of energy for human life and its existence is guaranteed on Earth. In addition, the sun can provide 10,000 times the Earth’s energy is utilized throughout the world for free, and is a potential alternative energy source to be managed and further developed.
2. Wind Energy
The wind is a source of energy that has been used for centuries. The wind is used to propel sailboats to various places. In addition, the wind is used to turn windmills to drive agricultural irrigation and pump water.
Wind also drives modern windmills to turn turbines to generate electricity. Countries such as Germany, Denmark, India, China, and the United States are building wind turbines as an additional source of electric power.
3. Water Energy
Hydropower is the energy obtained from flowing water. Hydropower that utilizes water movement is usually obtained from dammed rivers.
At the bottom of the water holes, there is a turbine that functions to convert the kinetic energy of the water movement into mechanical energy that can drive the water generator. Electrical energy derived from the kinetic energy of water is called hydroelectric (hydroelectric).
4. Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is continuously generated by magma in the bowels of the Earth. This heat energy appears on the surface of the Earth through sources of hot steam or geysers.
Geothermal energy is utilized by Geothermal Power Stations to turn turbines connected to generators.
Indonesia is a country rich in geothermal energy. This is because Indonesia has many active volcanoes.
5. Biomass (Biological Fuel)
Wood is the most widely used biomass energy source by humans. Since ancient times, humans have burned wood to heat their homes and cook food.
Apart from wood, this energy can be obtained from agricultural crops, landfills, and waste. Urban waste, industrial waste, agricultural waste, and wood waste are sources of biomass energy.
Biodiesel, biogas, and bioethanol are bio-fuels. Biodiesel (biodiesel) is produced from palm oil, biogas from animal waste, and bioethanol from plant materials. Bioethanol raw materials can be obtained from sugar cane, cassava, potatoes, and corn.
